DeliCATessen, Tokara

Family brunch at the weekend saw us at DeliCATessen at Tokara. Bit of a naff name but a fab place. Stunning building in a beautiful setting. Best bit – the adult sized weaver bird nest dangling from a tree complete with comfy cushions inside, and a brilliant Dreamweavers jungle gym perched on the edge of the building looking across the valley. Arrived with no reservation but managed to sneak in between breakfast and lunch. Delicious spinach and parmesan baked eggs made a change from the normal fry up fodder, and the kids loved the animal shaped toast. Good selection of foodie bits to browse through in the shop bit, and prettily-packaged Tokara olive oils to taste and buy. Very kid friendly but still stylish and laid back. Good service, friendly and efficient. Never convinced by the egg timer with the glass heated tea pot thing, but each to their own and its a joy that it’s open on Sunday which always seems to be the day we want to go somewhere beautiful and eat.
