Another of those places that I've walked past a million times and not even noticed - despite the line outside. So on reliable recommendation (thank you Mary Jane), I sought it out this week on a particularly hungry lunchtime, and was jolly glad I did. Num Pang is a true hole in the wall (with a few seats in a room upstairs) that offers the most delicious hot, juicy, spicy Vietnamese sandwiches (there's a name for them I think). I chose a mackerel and leek one from their list of specials. Their regular menu includes a meatball one which apparently is utterly addictive. A red lentil soup was very very good too. Perfect provisions for a tasty (if messy) picnic in Union Square. And they deliver to our block - what joy.

Great to grab a spicy fish sandwich and eat it in the sun in Union Square. The sweet corn is great too, served with a coconut sauce.

quick takeaway for the best bahn mi in Manhattan. the pork belly cannot be missed, but the shrimp is delicious too.
