This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Not simply in Thailand, but on a whole-wide-world scope. It was opened by The Population and Community Development Association of Thailand back in 1974, as a sort of figurehead/flagship project to spread awareness about safe sex, reproductive rights, and issues regarding sexuality, gender and homosexuality. The organisations absolutely independent, started off on a grassroots scale and has been responsible for so much for our country, in aiding orphanages, improving healthcare, and spearheading sex education campaigns in the rural villages, schools, and the sex worker industry. All that aside, bottom line: the food is FANTASTIC. Gorgeous traditional Thai dishes, innovative and absolutely delicious fusion fare as well, and they now have a beautiful, tranquil resort called The Sap Thai Resort, a beautiful, tranquil, and totally environmentally conscious oasis. If you already live in Bangkok, you probably are a fan already, and if you're travelling through, this is a must-visit! Fill your tummy, heart and mind, and know that you've also been part of something lovely and earth-affirming.
