It took me a couple of days to 'get' this place - a style-y little hideaway miles away from tourist Jamaica (and a good way from an airport ...); the beaches aren't great and it's most definitely boho rather than luxe-y - and looking a little tired perhaps, but it has a special magic nonetheless and I can see why it has its ardent fans. Within a day or so I'd sunk into the totally relaxed vibe and was enjoying just hanging out and doing very little. The restaurant is home-y and sweet with pretty good food - particularly breakfast (and particularly their assortment of saltfish dishes and local porridges as well as more familiar options) and we met nice people. Maybe that's the thing about it - the people. And time to sit and chat. After four days there I could have happily booked in for another month. Baby Victory loved it too - and the Jake's staff (who were invariably gorgeous) looked after him beautifully.

Laid back and low key and possibly overpriced for what it has/is but you pay because these kind of places are so hard to find. It is worth going just to savour the Saltfish breakfast as you sit overlooking the ocean. There is no great beach but it doesn't matter as you are literally on the water. We had one of the cheaper rooms and it was beautiful in a low key way. The balcony overlooking the garden was beautiful. This would be a great place to take your family and get one of the little houses. The staff are very friendly...... almost all women..... the men are much to busy playing at being Bob Marley.
